ファジー・ウォッブル・シリーズは、切手の体裁のアートワークで統一されています。書簡集、というような意図か知ら。全くプライベートなものもあります。(電話の保留用の歌などもありますし)
切手様の絵画、で思い付くのは、ドナルド・エヴァンス Donald Evansです。合衆国の画家、1945生まれ、1977年没。パートリッジが、彼の作品を参考にしたかどうかは判りません。けれども、美術には、造詣の深い彼ですから、知ってはいると思うのですが。

Wonder Annual
『Fuzzy Warbles』シリーズは、XTC のデモンストレーション・テイク集と言うのとは、結果として、異なったものになりました。
パートリッジの、意図と言うのは、インタビューなどからは、確信されるものが窺えないのですけれど。
それでも、｢Wonder Annual｣に固執していたことは、分かります。これを、どうしても発表したかったのでしょうか。それにしても、完成しないままでも、発表を望んだのか知ら。
さて、インタビューでは、幾度も言及されている「Wonder Annual」なのですが、Idea フォーラムの「Fuzzy Warbles, single favorite track」では、今の所、この歌を挙げる方はいないようです。
XTC のファンの大部分は、アンディ・パートリッジのポップ・ソングと歌い方、声が好きだから、と言われます。それなのに、ムールディング、グレゴリーが不可にしても、それでも、この歌が傑作だと主張するパートリッジの見方には、同調しないのか知ら。
